Feel free to bash away at this, but I really dont care.

Do any of you guys play other MMORPGs. EVE, WoW, EQ2 ect....

Do you know that those games dont suffer from the same lag as this one is, at least not for this extended peroid of time?

Do you also know that you pay them a monthly fee every month to play?

Most of that fee they charge you is for server maintainace, bandwidth, better internet connections ect... They still charge you the same Retail box rate for the product, which pays for the product itself, but what about the fee's incured for all that I just mentioned. Anet's not charging us squat to play every month. So its only just that the level of sever stability is not as good as the others becaues if it was, they would be out of business in a month.

Everyone is so quick to jump on here and complain when things are not working right, but where are you guys when things are working right. Enjoying the damn product they made and keep going. Why doesnt anyone come here and start a 15 page topic about how thankful they are to have a good MMO with no monthly fees. Why not a topic to say how glad they are with the games status.

C'mon people, get a grip on the fact that your not paying to play this game every month, therefore, set backs like this are not grounds for you to complain on. You dont want lag in your games, go play a RPG sans MMO.

Don't flame this person because you dont agree with his thoughts, I think hes half-right. Anet cant live up to the network a company with p2p like blizzard has, but they cannot sell a game that wont work every few seconds. Its like a basic bike you can cycle around on it and not worry about anything, but theres a bike that gets "Updated" every month for a small fee so it wont fall apart in the next 20 years, the cheaper one should last less then the expensiver option yet its chains shouldnt fall off every few seconds of use.

Offcourse the nonupdated bike gets stains on it but it will still function more then enough to use this should be the same for Guild Wars a great free game that can be played online but dont expect them to put down a better service then Blizzard.

For what i see in you post your knowledge and experience on gw is based on the box of the game that you have saw in storage.
people is complaining because gw never had lag (i play it about 2 years) and since 2 weeks ago european players are getting hard spikes of lag, what is causing this? well to be honest ive saw lots of explanations for it but for me its because servers are beeing used for gw2 or GW:EN betas or testing, lag started on europe but now some american players are getting lag too ... so what whe must do is wait for A-NET fix this as soon as possible ...

and still prefer gw with lag then WOW or other crap blizzard game (except Diablo2) without it. (yep i have WoW too and i consider it a good game compared with solitaire from windows)

US Midwest here - I was suffering from some 1000-1500 ms ping this afternoon (both towns and explorable areas, vurses 150-300 in the past). It started to get real bad during the dragon festival and hasn't recovered. Similar ping at my house and my girlfriend's (different neighborhoods, different ISPs, Cable vs DSL).

While we are on the topic of ping, Anet, how about fixing how Mesmers' interrupt skills, or rather lack of skills because you cant cast an interrupts with ping over 30 and the skill you tried to use has no effect but still charges energy and recharge time for "casting" the skill. Sigh :/ My mesmer is too hot to be a mule.

Also, small battle effects recently have been killing my framerate. Didnt used to do that at ALL. Dont know if the Splinter/Barrage build has too many effects in tight groups or if there is a netcode issue.

Ive given up waiting for this server problem to be fixed now so Im contemplating on just ordering WoW or another such game from GAME. £8.99 a month is nothing really, works out at just under £2.25 a week. dont mind paying that as ill be in the knowledge that ill actually be able to play the game rather than have a game i paid for that i cant play. Sucks really since i just wasted £23 in the online store to get the mission pack. But thats life.....

Haven't got that problem :P
Well I just got message from ANet to see if I could check my connection again. I haven't had much lag in PvE on the Euro server, I'll check out PvP some later but I think most of my (euro through frankfurt) lag is over.

Yeah, forget all this "only a European problem" talk. It's a problem everywhere with guildmates I talk to U.S., Canada, etc.

I'm in middle Tennessee, use only American districts. I have broadband, and I've never had a problem with this game, ever until this festival.

Lag started during festival weekend, and has only gotten worse. I thought it would improve when there weren't 100 districts in the monastery anymore, but again, it's only gotten to where it's completely unplayable.

I just keep hoping it's some software junk that crept in with the festival and that when the last quartermaster, game, or whatever is backed out of the codebase, that the bugs/memory leaks on servers/whatever the heck it is will go too.

Of course, it could be purely hardware related network/servers/routers that takes them weeks to track down, but I can hope, can't I.

I'm getting the wors lag ever atm. Haven't had any lag yesterday. If any techy of anet is reading this:

Fps:53
Lastping: 3.640ms
Averageping: 6.277ms

Server IP: 206.127.146.48

Has been stable lag for 10mins or so. Hope it goes away soon.

Guildwars is totally unplayable for me today. Extreme lag is not the word.

I really hope they get this fixed soon. This has gone on far to long as it is.

Sadly, I'm reading about a FPS of 53 in a wistful fashion.

FPS: 13-16

Average ping: 12,000 to 15,000 (in Kamadan).

After getting bonded trying to clear out of town, was not even showing last/average ping -- am guessing this is not a good thing.

Was fine yesterday. Tonight (east coast Australian time) has been constantly lagalicious.

:/ no guildwars today I'm afraid :/

*Hint Switch to Int for the moment ^^ average of 300ms. Still a lot but 10* better then 3000...*

edit 2 *Another hint don't go to guild hall, that's still on euro :/*

I'm also from New Zealand, had over 2 years of lag free guild wars so far. Since the last dragon festival been getting red ping of 5-10k at random times during the day for a long period of time (>1 hour).

My guildy whose from New Zealand is also experiencing exactly the same lagg problem.

Also additional information, my ping is fine before I go into teams arena (ie: when sitting a round waiting my ping is green, no problems at all) but soon as I enter, bam 5-10k ping unplayable. My lag only occurs when i enter into PvP.

Please, please have this fixed for the upcoming double glad weekend we're a TA guild

there is obviously soem holes in the dragon festival update thats causing the extreme lag, as there is not just more ppl playing guildwars, other events havnt causes this much lag , including thel as t dragon festival, so anet must either remove the dragon festival early or permanantly loose alot of players imo .

Hoho its bad today, at the character selection screen it took 5 mins to load into my GH with no uptates or anything. Nice little 20K ping as a present for my wait too. *Sigh* I thought this had been sorted.
